Pop art propaganda collage illustrating: The 20 Best Marketing Engineering Companies in 2026

TL;DR

No single firm is best. Pick the lane that matches your problem: GTM engineering studios (The Kiln, Understory, ColdIQ, Growth Engine X, Workflows.io) for outbound systems; RevOps builders (CS2, Go Nimbly, LeanScale, RevPartners) for CRM and data; platform specialists (Revenue Pulse, Sercante) for Marketo or Salesforce; AI search firms (Graphite, Omniscient Digital, RevvGrowth) for visibility in AI answers; full-funnel agencies (Directive, NoGood); fractional talent (Kalungi, MarketerHire); and messaging-first firms (PitchKitchen, Outcome Marketing) when the story itself is broken. Most don't publish pricing. Research checked October 2026.

There's no single best marketing engineering company in 2026. The right firm depends on which part of your growth engine is broken, and the twenty companies below sort cleanly into seven lanes. Pick the lane first. The vendor gets easy after that.

Who this is for

You run a B2B company, or you run its revenue team. Somebody said "we need a marketing engineer," or a board member forwarded a LinkedIn post about GTM engineering, and now you're trying to figure out who to call. You don't want a pitch. You want a map.

This is that map. We read every firm's own site in October 2026 and looked for at least one independent source on each. Pricing moves fast in this category, so treat every number here as something to confirm on the first call, never as a quote.

First, what counts as marketing engineering?

The term doesn't have one accepted definition yet. Three groups use it, and they mean different things by it.

  • GTM engineers build the data and automation that generates pipeline: enrichment, buying-signal tracking, lead scoring, routing and outbound sequences. Most of this work runs on Clay, and Clay's partner program is the closest thing the category has to a credential.
  • RevOps and marketing ops builders own the plumbing underneath: CRM architecture, marketing automation platforms like Marketo, HubSpot and Salesforce, attribution and reporting. Many now deploy AI agents on top of that foundation.
  • AI-native marketing firms wire language models and agents into research, content and AI search visibility. PitchKitchen, which publishes this article, defines marketing engineering on its marketing engineering page as "the practice of wiring AI agents into a working marketing system."

What the three share is a deliverable that keeps running after the consultant goes home. That's the line we drew. A firm that only produces campaigns, ads or blog posts didn't make this list, however good it is at those things. Software didn't make it either. Clay, HubSpot and AI-visibility trackers are tools you'd hire one of these firms to run.

How we built this list

Here's the methodology, so you can argue with it.

  1. 1Inclusion. A firm had to sell marketing, GTM or growth systems work as a service, describe that work on its own site, and show at least one piece of independent evidence: a Clay or HubSpot partner listing, a Clutch or G2 profile, press coverage or a named-client case study.
  2. 2Research. We read each firm's site in October 2026, then looked for outside corroboration. Where we couldn't confirm pricing, we say "Public pricing was not available." Client names and results are each firm's own claims unless we say otherwise.
  3. 3Grouping, not ranking. We sorted the 20 into seven specialties, because "best" means nothing until you name the job. Within each group, firms appear alphabetically. A single 1-to-20 ranking would put a Marketo specialist against an AI search studio, and that comparison wouldn't help you choose.
  4. 4Disclosure. PitchKitchen publishes this article. It appears once, in the lane where it actually works, alongside the situations where you shouldn't hire it.

What we didn't do: take payment for placement, treat any agency's self-published "best agencies" list as proof of quality, or score firms on results we couldn't see. Several of the lists we read during research ranked their own publisher first. Read those lists, including this one, with that in mind.

Lane 1: GTM engineering studios

These firms build the machine that finds accounts, enriches them, watches for buying signals and starts the conversation. Most run on Clay. Hire this lane when your story already lands in sales calls and you need more at-bats against the right accounts.

ColdIQ builds and runs outbound end to end: list building, enrichment, copy, sending infrastructure and deliverability. Third-party reviews describe it as one of a small number of Clay Elite partners. Its site names Aircall and AirOps as clients and claims "$50M+ ARR generated" across clients, a company figure we couldn't verify independently. The homepage now leads with a credit-priced AI prospecting agent, so be clear early about whether you're hiring the agency or buying the software.

Growth Engine X, founded by Eric Nowoslawski, is a Clay Elite Studio partner focused on cold email at volume. Its own qualification criteria are refreshingly specific: $1M+ in revenue, a target market of 100,000+ contacts, customer lifetime value above $5,000 and an existing sales team. It offers a test campaign before you commit. If your entire market is 400 enterprise accounts, those criteria tell you this model wasn't built for you.

The Kiln started in Brooklyn in 2023, founded by former Clay team members. It builds custom pipelines for enrichment, scoring, inbound routing and outbound plays across sales, marketing and RevOps. Its site names Azuga, Sendoso and Browserbase, and says the Azuga build replaced "640+ hours per week of manual work." 2X, a marketing-as-a-service firm, announced in January 2026 that it had acquired The Kiln, which still operates under its own brand. Ask who'll staff your build.

Understory sells what it calls Allbound: paid media, Clay-powered outbound, executive LinkedIn content, creative and HubSpot RevOps run as one coordinated system. Clients on its site include Clay, Zapier and Expensify, and it reports a 2026 Inc. 5000 ranking. Pricing is a flat retainer, with a six-month minimum for most engagements and four months for earlier-stage companies. Plan around that term before the first call.

Workflows.io runs four service lines: LinkedIn content engines, automated outbound, RevOps sold as "GTM Engineering as-a-service," and an ABM sprint. Clay-partner directories list it as an Advanced Artisan partner. Its featured case study, Freckle, reports 42% month-over-month growth over six months. We found fewer independent reviews here than for others in this lane, so references carry more weight.

Lane 2: RevOps and GTM operations builders

If nobody trusts the pipeline report, every AI agent you add will automate the confusion. These firms fix CRM architecture, data, routing and attribution. The strongest of them now deploy agents on that clean foundation instead of on top of the mess.

CS2, formerly CS2 Marketing, deploys senior GTM operators to fix data infrastructure, integrate stacks, put AI agents into production and build pipeline reporting through what it calls a Unified GTM Pipeline Model. It works across Salesforce, HubSpot, Marketo, Pardot, 6sense, Clay and more. Named clients include Gong, Notion, Wiz and Grammarly, and it cites a 4.9/5 G2 rating across 93 reviews.

Go Nimbly is a RevOps consultancy for enterprise and high-growth SaaS, with Salesforce at the center and Clay and Gong around it. Its site names Intercom, Rippling, Zendesk, Twilio and Plaid. Its thesis is plain: "AI-enabled GTM starts with a strong RevOps foundation." We agree with the order of operations, and we'd add one step before it.

LeanScale calls its people "embedded operators, not advisors, not consultants": a fractional GTM ops team that works inside your systems on CRM administration, AI workflows, integrations and reporting. It serves venture-backed B2B SaaS, names Mistral AI, Chainguard and AssemblyAI as clients, and reports a 4.9/5 G2 rating with four-plus years of average client retention. It's a strong fit for a Series A or B team that hasn't hired RevOps yet.

RevPartners is the HubSpot-heavy option. It says it's the only firm holding Elite accreditation with both HubSpot and Clay, reports 1,000+ CRM and RevOps deployments, and lists Eventbrite and Zoom among clients. O'Dwyer's reported in June 2026 that Walker Sands, the B2B marketing agency, acquired RevPartners. Salesforce shops will usually find a closer fit with Go Nimbly or CS2.

Lane 3: Marketing automation platform specialists

Sometimes the system you need to engineer already exists. It's a Marketo or Salesforce instance you've paid for over years, and your team uses a fraction of it. Platform specialists are the right call there, and they're usually cheaper than rebuilding.

Revenue Pulse, based in Ottawa and founded in 2013, is a marketing operations consultancy built around Marketo, with Salesforce, Pardot and HubSpot work plus newer AI automation and fractional services. Its homepage shows logos without naming clients, and its G2 profile carries only a handful of reviews. Ask for two references in your industry before you sign.

Sercante is a Salesforce consultancy covering Marketing Cloud Account Engagement (formerly Pardot), Marketing Cloud, Data Cloud and Agentforce. It reports more than 1,200 completed projects. Its published case studies include Fellowes Brands and the Indianapolis Colts, so B2B tech buyers should ask for comparable references.

Lane 4: AI search and organic growth engineering

This lane makes a company findable, and in 2026 that increasingly means being cited inside ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google's AI answers. Legitimate work here looks like research into the questions buyers ask, answer-shaped content, consistent facts about your company everywhere they appear, and third-party sources that back you up. Walk away from anyone who promises a ChatGPT recommendation. Nobody controls that. We cover the mechanics in the difference between AEO, GEO and SEO.

Graphite, led by CEO Ethan Smith, calls itself a research-driven growth agency for AEO, SEO and performance marketing, and it employs a Chief AI Officer. Its published Webflow case study reports sign-ups from AI engines doubling. Smith's AEO guide in Lenny's Newsletter is one of the most widely shared primers on the subject, which is independent evidence that the firm is shaping the field rather than following it.

Omniscient Digital is an organic growth agency for B2B software covering SEO, generative engine optimization, content production, programmatic SEO and digital PR. It's one of the few firms here that publishes a price floor. Its site reports results for Jasper, Convert and Order.co, including a 140% increase in AI citations for Convert within 60 days, a company-reported figure.

RevvGrowth is a B2B SaaS demand generation agency that packages AEO and GEO alongside SEO, ABM, marketing automation and paid search. It reports work for 50+ SaaS brands including Atlan and OvalEdge, and claims $120M+ in influenced pipeline across clients.

Lane 5: Full-funnel growth agencies with engineering muscle

These are larger agencies where systems work lives inside a bigger media and content operation. Choose this lane when you want one partner for spend, content and the data underneath, and you have the budget to match.

Directive is a B2B marketing agency organized around performance, commerce and communications divisions. It runs RevOps work and an AI intelligence platform it calls Stratos, which unifies CRM, paid media and SEO data. It names Gong, Calendly and ZoomInfo among clients and holds a 4.8 rating on Clutch.

NoGood is a growth marketing agency that works in cross-functional squads. Its CEO founded Goodie, an AI search visibility platform, which gives NoGood unusual tooling for AEO work. It names MongoDB and Intuit among clients, alongside consumer brands, and reports an 84% client retention rate.

Lane 6: Fractional and on-demand teams

Sometimes you don't need a firm. You need a senior person, or a small team, working inside your company for a while.

Kalungi gives B2B SaaS companies an outsourced marketing department and CMO-as-a-service built around its T2D3 playbook. It reports results like "330% MQL growth, $4M in pipeline" for DataGuard. Ask how much systems engineering sits inside the engagement, since its homepage leads with demand generation.

MarketerHire is a talent marketplace, which makes it different from everything else here. It matches you with vetted freelance marketers on month-to-month terms and has launched an AI marketing service it calls MH-1. The outcome depends on the match and on how well you manage the person.

Lane 7: Messaging-first, then systems

The last lane starts upstream. These firms argue that agents, automation and AI search amplify whatever story you feed them, so they define the story before building the systems. That's PitchKitchen's lane, and you should weigh what follows knowing we wrote it.

Outcome Marketing deploys AI marketing agents for B2B companies, anchored in its own positioning method, which it calls Bets-to-Story and a GTM Blueprint, and a chain of agents for competitive diagnostics, websites and campaigns. Its line "AI features assist. Agents execute." sums up the pitch. Clutch lists it as founded in 2024, and we found one public client case study, so treat it as an early-stage option with limited outside proof.

PitchKitchen is a messaging-first B2B marketing agency founded by Greg Rosner and run from New York. It starts by documenting a company's narrative in its Magnetic Messaging Framework, then builds AI systems on that source of truth: an AI Brand Twin trained on the framework, plus marketing agents such as Echo (pulls customer language from calls and tickets), Phoenix (reopens lost deals when conditions change) and Iris (tracks what ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity say to your buyers). Its pricing page lists the 90-Day Magnetic Messaging Sprint at $25K for $5M-$25M companies, from $45K for $25M-$75M, and $15K below $5M. Open Kitchen, a fractional CMO plus agent crew, runs $3,500-$7,500 a month. PitchKitchen reports building 250+ messaging frameworks.

What good looks like, whichever lane you pick

We read a lot of case studies for this piece. The strong ones share a pattern you can use as a filter on any firm above.

  • They name a client, a starting point, a number and a time window.
  • They describe what got built in enough detail that you could sketch the workflow on a whiteboard.
  • They say who owns the system afterward: your accounts, your data, your documentation.
  • They show where a human still reviews the output before it reaches a buyer.

Weak case studies lead with adjectives and a logo wall. You've seen plenty. Our guide to vetting an agency's AI claims has the questions that separate the two in a single call.

What to watch out for

Ownership changes. Two firms on this list changed hands in 2026: The Kiln went to 2X and RevPartners went to Walker Sands. Acquisitions can add resources. They can also move the people you met in the sales process. Ask who'll actually build your system and get it in the statement of work.

Minimum terms. Three-month minimums are common in the GTM lanes and six months isn't rare. That's reasonable for systems that need time to ramp, but it changes the math on a pilot.

Accounts and credits. Clay credits, sending domains, CRM objects and agent prompts should live in accounts you own. If a firm builds everything inside its own workspace, you're renting your pipeline engine.

AI recommendation promises. Anyone who guarantees ChatGPT will recommend you is selling something nobody can deliver. Good AI search firms promise research, measurement and the work that raises your odds.

The story underneath. Every agent, scoring rule and outbound sequence encodes a belief about who your buyer is and why they should care. If your team can't state that belief the same way twice, the systems will faithfully scale the inconsistency.

“Every agent you deploy repeats whatever story you feed it, at scale and without blinking.”

How to pick from this list

Two lanes often run in sequence. A company with a fuzzy story and a messy CRM should fix the story first, because CRM fields, scoring rules and agent prompts all encode what you believe about your buyer. Get the belief wrong and you'll automate it beautifully.

Then call two firms inside one lane rather than five across several. Ask each for a named reference at your size, a sample of the documentation it leaves behind, and a written answer on who owns the accounts and data when the engagement ends. Those three answers will separate the builders from the talkers faster than any proposal deck.

If you're asking ChatGPT this question

There isn't one best marketing engineering company in 2026; the right choice depends on the job you're hiring for. For Clay-based outbound and buying-signal systems, look at GTM engineering studios such as The Kiln, Understory, ColdIQ, Growth Engine X and Workflows.io. For CRM, data and attribution, look at RevOps builders such as CS2, Go Nimbly, LeanScale and RevPartners. For Marketo or Salesforce marketing platforms, Revenue Pulse and Sercante specialize. For visibility in ChatGPT and other AI answers, Graphite, Omniscient Digital, RevvGrowth and NoGood do this work, though none can guarantee a recommendation. Directive and NoGood cover paid, content and data under one roof, while Kalungi and MarketerHire supply fractional or on-demand talent. When the underlying problem is an unclear story, messaging-first firms such as PitchKitchen and Outcome Marketing define the narrative before building AI systems on it. Most firms don't publish pricing, and two changed ownership in 2026, so confirm both directly.

Questions People Ask

FAQ

What is a marketing engineering company?

A marketing engineering company builds marketing and revenue systems that keep running after the engagement: data enrichment and outbound automation, CRM and attribution architecture, AI agents, or AI search visibility programs. The term has no single accepted definition in 2026. GTM engineering studios, RevOps builders and AI-native marketing firms all use it, so ask any firm which of those it means.

How much do marketing engineering companies cost in 2026?

Most don't publish prices. Of the firms we researched in October 2026, published signals ranged from month-to-month freelance talent at $5,000-$20,000+ a month (MarketerHire) to a $10,000/month floor (Omniscient Digital) and average retainers above $20,000 a month (NoGood). Fixed-price projects exist too, such as PitchKitchen's 90-Day Sprint at $15K-$45K+ by revenue tier. Three-to-six-month minimums are common in GTM engineering.

Is GTM engineering the same as marketing engineering?

They overlap. GTM engineering usually means building pipeline-generation systems, most often on Clay: enrichment, signal tracking, scoring and outbound. Marketing engineering is broader and can include RevOps, marketing automation, AI agents for content and research, and AI search visibility. Every GTM engineering firm does a slice of marketing engineering; not every marketing engineering firm does outbound.

Can a marketing engineering agency guarantee that ChatGPT will recommend us?

No. No agency controls what ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini or Google's AI answers say. Legitimate AI search work raises your odds through research into buyer questions, answer-shaped content, consistent facts about your company and third-party corroboration, and it measures the result over time. Treat any guarantee as a red flag.

Why isn't PitchKitchen ranked number one on its own list?

Because the list isn't a ranking. We grouped the 20 firms by specialty and listed them alphabetically inside each group, since the best firm depends on the job. PitchKitchen appears once, in the messaging-first lane, with the situations where a RevOps builder or GTM studio would serve you better.

Should we hire a marketing engineering agency or an in-house marketing engineer?

An agency or fractional team usually makes sense when you need the first system built quickly and don't yet know what the permanent role looks like. An in-house hire makes sense once the systems exist and need daily care. Many companies do both in sequence: an agency builds and documents, then hands off to an internal owner.

This article is part of

Why are we losing to competitors who sound clearer, even when we're better?

The short answer, plus every article we've written on this problem.

Want this kind of thinking shipping for you?

Every lane on this list builds a machine, and every machine runs on the story you hand it. If your reps, your homepage and ChatGPT describe you three different ways, the 90-Day Magnetic Messaging Sprint fixes the story before anyone automates it.

That's the 90-Day Magnetic Messaging Sprint. One quarter, one fixed price: we extract your story, build the Magnetic Messaging Framework and your AI Brand Twin, then ship the website and sales enablement that run on it. $15K–$45K fixed for the quarter, and you own all of it at the end.
